I am 35 weeks pregnant and at my regular appointment yesterday my doctor told me he wants me to leave work. Now. I don’t have any pregnancy complications, but I have had a lot of pain and discomfort in my hips and pelvis, as well as not being able to sleep. I drive 45 minutes to work everyday, sit at my desk for 9 hours, then drive 45 minutes home. He wants me to be moving around a lot more than what I am. He thinks that the drive and sitting all day have a lot to do with the pain in my lower back, hips and pelvis. Lack of sleep could be from stress. He told me to finish out the work week, and for Friday to be my last day (today is wednesday).
The problem is, I am not sure if my company’s insurance carrier is going to approve me for leave when I don’t have any major pregnancy complications. I really cannot afford to leave work without ANY pay. My company’s carrier is Liberty Mutual. Does anyone have any experience with this kind of situation or Liberty Mutual Short-term disability?

I have not been at my current job for a year yet (ony 9 months) so I do not qualify for FMLA maternity leave. That is why I have to make a disability claim.
Well, actually, they most certainly ARE going to pay from delivery until 6 weeks post-partum for sure. I don’t know why people say your not "disabled". One of the benefits at my company is short-term disablity for PREGNANCY and POST-PARTUM up to 26 weeks if needed. My question is, will they cover anything other than bed-rest during pregnancy (before delivery). Please only answer this question if you understand it. The first answer obviously did not understand. Thanks!
Yes my company pays for insurance. Actually just spoke to someone at liberty and they ARE going to cover me for short-term disability (66.6% pay) starting July 18th until until October 5th (unless there are complications and I need longer) (there will be one week without pay) I should have just waited for the phone call instead of asking on here, but I did not expect to hear back so quickly (3 days?)!! Well anyways, really glad you guys were wrong. Thanks anyways though!! I probably should have included that I am at risk for pre-term labor and have already dilated 2cms…but you were wrong either way… sweetpea :)
Oh, and btw, if you guys are insurance agents, why have NONE of you asked what state I am in? Pregnancy and maternity leave covered under FMLA and short-term disability varies state to state. Some states don’t consider 3rd trimester pregnancy a disability, but my state does!! :)

My mom told me I would never be a size 16 in kids because it’s considered plus size. Is that true?
