According to the article: "Insurers say they have a sound reason for charging different premiums: Women ages 19 to 55 tend to cost more than men because they typically use more health care, especially in the childbearing years.
But women still pay more than men for insurance that does not cover maternity care. In the individual market, maternity coverage may be offered as an optional benefit, or rider, for a hefty additional premium."
Whats the difference in what women vs men have to pay for health coverage? According the article above: "The disparities are evident in premiums charged by major insurers like Humana, UnitedHealth, Aetna and Anthem, a unit of WellPoint; in prices quoted by eHealth, a leading online source of health insurance; and in rate tables published by state high-risk pools, which offer coverage to people who cannot obtain private insurance.
Humana, for example, says its Portrait plan offers “ideal coverage for people who want benefits like those provided by big employers.” For a Portrait plan with a ,500 deductible, a 30-year-old woman pays 31 percent more than a man of the same age in Denver or Chicago and 32 percent more in Tallahassee, Fla."

So why the gender gap in health insurance, if equality is here in the US? I keep hearing how feminism isn’t needed in the US or the West, we’re all supposedly equal now. What gives?
I don’t have kids, never had them, and won’t have them, so why do I have to pay higher health insurance rates-why don’t I get the rates men do?
So does this mean, based on your answers, that we can stop hearing about gender gaps in auto insurance rates that men pay, since this gender gap in health insurance rates doesn’t matter? Ok, glad I won’t have to hear about that ever again.
FYI: Don’t want any of these, and in the US, these are elective surgeries, meaning, they are not covered by a health insurance plan and the individual has to pay for all of this stuff themselves: breast augmentation and vaginal cosmetic surgeries (ewww). Never had a hysterectomy or a tubal hon-I"d look for any way to avoid both of those surgeries as well. I’ve had my tonsils out though, when I was 5. That is probably why I’m paying such high health insurance costs.
I am a tall girl, 5’11 and wear a size 20 pant. Though I am tall, I have not butt and all plus size pants I find that fit me in the waist and hight give me big saggy butts. I’m trying to find a store where I can find pants that work!

I’ve had multiple dreams about my future prom dress. I don’t see myself wearing it, but I do see it in the dream. It’s blue and very beautiful, but it’s very hard for me to describe it. I’ve always known that I wanted a blue prom dress, though. What would you interpret this as?
My 2.5 yr old son’s teacher is pregnant with her first child. I’ve spoken with her personally and never has she indicated to me she planned on leaving the daycare. We talked about her maternity leave and if the baby would go to that daycare. She said he would and she’d get the discounted rate. She’d take 3 months off because the baby had to be 3 months old to be at the daycare. Blah, blah blah.
I met up with another parent over the holiday and she told me that this teacher is NOT coming back. (Her daughter is in my son’s class too) It came up because this parent asked me what I’d do come August when this teacher was leaving to have her baby. I had no idea what she was talking about. And it led to this discussion.
I’ve never heard, formally or officially, that this teacher isn’t coming back. Our daycare is known for its low turnover ratio and I have to say, this is my son’s FAVORITE teacher and he talks about her daily as well as on weekends. He’s totally head over heels for her! Not only will he be crushed but I’ll be bummed out too! I love this teacher! She’s great with the kids, I have a great relationship with her, etc, etc.
Would you expect a heads up if a teacher had planned to leave? Not necessarily from the teacher herself but from the daycare director? Or do you think it’s none of my business?
I just know how my son was when we moved because that was a huge transition for him. He went through hitting and kicking like CRAZY! And if his favorite teacher leaves, I’m honestly worried with how he’ll react. He’s in love with his teacher. He tells everyone about her. Every car, no matter where we drive, if it is the same car as his teacher than he it’s always Miss So and So. He likes her football team because it’s her favorite team. I mean, he’s in love with her!
Actually, his teacher IS somewhat of a friend. I went to her baby shower and to be included in that, I’m not just a nobody.
Im going to my boyfriends prom in april, i know its early but I tend to get started on things early!
