I work in the retail industry. It requires me to be on my feet 8 hours out of the day. I also have a 1 hour drive to and from work. Now that I am in the last weeks of my pregnancy my legs are cramping up. I wear comfortable shoes, but a unable to take break in between. It’s a nonegotiable and the doctor wont give a note to excuse, what he calls "issues due to the pregnancy". He says that it is not a medical reason!

Loosening elastic waistband?

I’m needing information on how to loosen the elastic waistband in a pair of jogging pants that I own. The leg openings are loose around my legs, but for some reason the waistband is a little too tight for my waist. My body is proportionate so I don’t really understand why they fit so weird. Does anyone know how I could get the elastic waistband to loosen up a bit? I’d prefer if there was no sewing involved. The pants are made out of 100% polyester. Any help would be great!! Thank you!!

OK there are a few different things that have popped up now. I am 28wks pregnant with my second and I never experienced any of this with my first. This is long, so if you are going to answer my question, please read everything so I don’t get useless answers. I thank you if you’ve read all of this. Are any of these things connected, and do I need to worry? I’m sure I’ll just have to stick it out the rest of these 3 months – it’s probably normal and I’m just worrying too much. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced these issues and if you were able to find some type of safe relief. My doctor is useless and I’ve mentioned these things to him and he just says take Tylenol or go see another doctor – if there is nothing he can do, he blows me off rather than telling me that it’s normal and there’s nothing he can do. I can’t switch, no one will take me this late in pregnancy. Thanks for any help!
1) Over the past 2-3days, I have been having a lot of discharge which looks to be like a yeast infection. Not the normal leukorrhea stuff.
2) My back pain has shot through the roof over the past week. It has spread to hurt in my hips, lower abdomen, thighs and down my legs into my feet. It gives me severe pain in my lower abdomen and what feels like the area between my thigh and my genitals. The pain is sharp, stabbing and burning in these areas, and it even feels like it’s going into my lower uterus and cervix. It went from being not so bad and relatively manageable to being absolutely and completely horrible. I can barely walk, I can’t get up or down from a chair, I can’t lay on my sides or back – forget about laying in any position at all. Sitting for too long hurts, standing for too long hurts, walking hurts. I can’t get in and out of bed if I even sleep in the bed. It is incredibly intense pain to move around at all in bed – there is always popping and clicking if I try to move. Even with my husband’s help, I can barely manage to get through the pain – it always has me in tears. I’m waiting for a glider to arrive so I can sleep in an upright sitting position so that I can hopefully start sleeping again. That’s how bad the pain is. I feel it every single second of the day whereas it was not so often before. It hurts so bad to go into a sitting position from standing and vice versa. I can’t get up and down at work all day like I used to. I have to walk very slow and I look really odd walking. I cannot do ANYTHING for myself such as carrying things, picking anything up, any kind of cleaning, trying to play with my 2yo son or put him down to sleep or give him baths. God forbid I drop something or have to be alone with my son. I can barely shower or bathe myself. I cannot sit on a toilet or pee without that intense pain in my lower back. Going to the bathroom is a nightmare. Heating pads do not help, Tylenol doesn’t help, the maternity back brace thing makes it WORSE and trying to keep up my exercises is getting to be so difficult with all this pain – I hear a lot of popping and clicking noises in my lower back when I try to do my exercises now. I could go on and on. I’m miserable. My OBGYN’s nurse told me to go to physical therapy so I am going to try that next. This is so hard to do when I work full-time as well. Getting up in the morning, trying to dress myself and getting in and out of my car is so very painful. Shifting in my seat at work is a nightmare because it hurts my back and pelvic area so bad. I sit here at my desk all day hoping and praying that no one asks me to get up to do something.
3) My abdomen has been very hard and tight and I’m not sure if it’s normal for it to ALWAYS be like that. Should it not be relaxed sometimes? Everyone keeps asking if I’m getting contractions. Sometimes it feels very uncomfortable or even painful but other times I can’t tell but it’s like that pretty much all day. This has been happening for the past 4-5 days.

I’ve tried Fashion bug and Lane bryant, their skinny jeans look really bad on me. I’m plus size, but I always get complements that my legs are nice and smaller then what they thought it would be, which is why certain brands of plus skinny jeans don’t’ fit me in the leg. If you know of a place that has skinny jeans in plus size and come with different fitted options, that would be amazing.

I am 5’3 and small, though my legs and butt are filled out because I am a power lifter. I also have thicker arms, but not like ugly and muscle-y. I need a prom dress that won’t make me look thicker than I am, like most dresses do because of my butt.

I’m in 8th grade, just to start out. One of my friends wears a DD bra. Whenever she wears t-shirts, the tops of the cups show though them, even if the t-shirts aren’t tight. My friend is a bigger girl (I am too, so I’m not being mean). We’d wear about the same size, which is an XL t-shirt. Consistantly, my friend wears medium and large shirts, and they’re too tight on her. She also wears really low cut shirts that expose what me and the rest of my friends think is too much. We have guy friends who don’t like it either. The think it just makes her look slutty.

We all think my friend is in size denial.

As the only bigger girl in the group, I’ve offered many times to go shopping with her and help her pick out things that would fit her well and look nice (but I’ve never actually implied that she’s in denial about what size bra/shirt she needs), or even help her shop online.

Also, she wears skinny jeans. She’s bigger in the legs too, and the honestly are too tight. I know they make skinny jeans for plus size girls, I’ve seen them before, and they actually fit when you try them on (even though I don’t own any). Basically the skinny jeans she’s wearing now give her (I don’t know how to reword this) a cameltoe and show the cellulite in her legs.

A lot of people from school make fun of her behind her back for dressing this way. She’s getting worse about it too.

Basically, this has been going on since the start of 8th grade, and it’s just uncomfortable. I want to know how I can approach her about getting something that actually fits. How can I politely talk to her about this?

Good online store to buy maternity clothes from?

I’m 16 and having my first child, I’m in my second trimester and starting to not fit in my regular clothing. Since I’m also having to buy baby things (crib, clothing, etc..) I can’t afford to spend a fortune on maternity clothing for myself so are there any really cute yet affordable maternity clothing store websites I can look through?

Thanks for the help!
Kuntanella Garcia: FYI- I was raped. So no, I didn’t just "open my legs and let someone hit it" you heartless douche. Don’t judge until you know facts.

I’m not a big girl, but a bit chesty and thick in the middle every thing I put on looks like maternity clothes. And they don’t make jeans like they used to all of them creates muffin top, so it makes it hard to tuck any thing in. I have to wear dress clothes to work, and I usually end up looking pregnant or sloppy. if I buy shirts to fit the top they are huge every where else. same with the dress pants or jeans if i buy them to fit around my waist they are sloppily huge in the but and legs. Please help. i’m 40 something and end up looking 50 or 60 something

i’m not quite 8 wks along with my first baby (second pregnancy, first one didn’t hold past this stage), but my loose jeans are snug and uncomfy to sit in for 10 hrs a day at work, and my bras are all too small already (yikes!!! i’m already TOO BIG in that area! i don’t want to go to a G!).

is it normal to start getting thicker so soon? my legs are the same, and i haven’t changed my eating habits for the worse, they’ve actually gotten better! and i started working out… i haven’t even gained a pound, either!

what are some tips for getting clothes that will fit now and throught my pregnancy? (i’m not big on shopping and have a very small budget for it!)
oh, and i have to work in a casual office… other wise i’d be LIVING in my sweat pants and sports bras!!

Varicose Veins- support hose?

I have asked this in pregnancy but I am not getting many answers. I guess I am the only pregnant woman with varicose veins right now. Anyway… I have them and I just ordered some maternity compression stockings online until they arrive I purchased some control top support hose (for legs as well as the top part… which I really don’t need) My question is, do you think they are helping at all? I ask because they are uncomfortable due to the fact that they are not actually maternity hose. I feel my legs and at first they feel really normal but as I am bending down to check it causes the veins to start bulging again. I don’t know why but this really bothers me. I am worried my veins are going to explode. The problem area starts where my leg meets my body and goes down all the way to the front and back of my calf. I have never seen anything like this…. it is pretty scary. BTW I see my doctor on Thursday so I will discuss with him then. Thanks!!

Okay, my belly is now officially bigger than my hips. I can still get my pants on and do the rubber-band-buttonhole thing, but they all feel like they’re going to fall down/fall off, which is really uncomfortable (not to mention looks silly to keep hitching up my pants, I’m sure).

I am still too small for regular maternity pants. But elastic waistbands are my friend. :) I’m fine at home – but I’m having trouble with what to wear to work. Any recommendations to how to keep things stylish and at least somewhat professional with an elastic waistband? I’m trying to avoid dresses/skirts as I’d be required to wear pantyhose (stupid old-fashioned dress code), and they really don’t "breathe" well enough for me to feel comfortable. It’s also quite chilly in my office, so I get cold without anything on my legs. I’m allowed pretty much anything but jeans and T-shirts, though, other than the pantyhose thing.

What did you do for the in-between size? If you can send me any links to "looks" that might work, that’s helpful too. I can’t figure out how to shop here, and when I’m also hormonal and keep having to pee, striking out while shopping at a department store is practically cause for tears. :)

Thanks ladies!!
Okay, since EVERYONE agreed, I bought on on my lunch hour today. This will definitely help, but I feel like I have to position it really low for my pants not to come out from underneath. Maybe a little experimentation is all I need, though? It definitely helps already, thanks!!

Need help sizing pregnancy jeans. Advice needed!?

I’m about 12 weeks pregnant, and although I haven’t begun showing just yet, I do want to have maternity clothes to wear ahead in time for when I need them. I recently ordered a pair of low-rise, maternity jeans from Old Navy. I’m typically a size 10, but my sister suggested that I order a 12 because of the changes that my body would go through. I tried them on, and they just seem enormous. The seat just kind of hangs there, and they’re so loose everywhere else. I do have pretty wide hips, so I’m just not sure if I should go a size up in pants or send them back and get my usual size. I’m a healthy eater, and I have been working out and plan to continue until I can’t anymore. Did any of you find that you got bigger in your hips and legs (enough to need a size up in maternity pants), or were you able to wear pretty much the same size as your pre-pregnancy? Advice would be much appreciated because I don’t want to waste a ton of money! Thanks!

I am slightly over weight HAHAHA alright lets be honest I am about 50 or 60 lbs over weight but almost all of my fat is in my stomach. my legs aren’t that big my arms butt and face aren’t that big but I have a major pot belly I really like a particular kind of shirt but try it on and I always look pregnant!! Recently I bought a new shirt for a friends wedding and I actually had to buy a maternity shirt!!!! It was the only one I could find that I didn’t feel like I looked like a cow in!! Please suggest what kind of tops I should try and if possible please provide pictures.
by the way I am not pregnant nor have i ever been. :o )
alright smarties dont you think I have tried that LOL :o ) anytime I lose weight I lose it in my boobs and face which makes my belly look bigger and before you tell me to do crunches I can already tell you that my bad back does not allow me to do any kind of crunch or sit up.

now if anyone has a SHIRT recommendation that would be wonderful since that was the whole purpose of my question!!
